The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) combines funding from the State's Educational Opportunity Fund, which receives some of its revenues from proceeds generated by the sale of New Jersey Lottery tickets, with an an innovative support program that helps create an academic road for eligible students. EOP helps provide educational support and assistance for those students that have the potential to go to college, but might not be accepted through regular admission procedures and/or do not have the financial support.
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) program begins the summer before the student's freshmen year. For several weeks during the summer, students go through a series of courses, for several weeks, that will help them get a “head start” towards a higher education.
Throughout their college experience, each student within EOP, has the opportunity to take advantage of free, individual group and family counseling, educational services through the Center for Learning, Instruction and Assessment' Graduate Access Programs; and additional services that are in need. There are also several lectures and seminars that are offered in order to encourage EOP students to continue with their education and go on for post-baccalaureate degrees.
